MISSION STATEMENT

NPHSC seeks to build sustainability and excellence in the non-profit and charitable sectors.  By reducing the cost of living for employees, volunteers and significant donors we will provide financial incentives that help social enterprise attract and retain both the best people and sustainable funding.

HISTORY

Founded in 2011 in Toronto, Ontario, NPHSC is a partial answer to a larger question: “How do we help the charitable and non-profit sectors in Canada thrive?”  With over 17,000 non-profits operating in Ontario alone it was clear that the answer must be to do something that would help NPO’s help themselves.  The founders, having worked, volunteered or donated extensively in these sectors, agreed that vital to the success of any social organization are:

3. 3.Sustainable private funding
   

After much debate, the answer became finding a way to provide a financial incentive that would help level the playing field between the for-profit and non-profit sectors.  To reduce, eliminate or reverse the 10% gap in wages that exists between the for-profit and non-profit sectors, by providing a monetary incentive to employees and donors.  Drawing on experience and contacts within Canada’s banking system, they had a solution: low interest rate home loans, or mortgages.

Finally, a pitch was made to the big five banks.  Three subscribed to the idea immediately (TD, Scotiabank and CIBC) with ING being added later on.

To the three vital groups listed above: in 2012, we have a total commitment of $20,000,000 in subsidized funds, administered by your bank, through your branch, as a “thank you” for working in the non-profit sector.  Please keep up the good work.  To boards, directors and HR managers at Canada’s non-profits: please make use of us.

NPHSC Non-Profit Framework Canada is a federally incorporated non-profit organization committed to providing support to non-profit and charitable organizations in Canada.

Non-Profit Housing Subsidies Canada is a program operated by us which provides subsidized interest rate mortgages to people who work or volunteer in the non-profit sector.
